The 4xAdventures RUclips channel began life as a very simple idea - to film some of my outback trips to show friends and family the beauty that is outback Australia. Far from being this vast emptiness that most people believe, if you look hard enough, you will be richly rewarded with some of the most stunning scenery in the world. The vastness of this country, together with the sheer remoteness of the outback makes it an overlander's dream.
I hope you enjoy watching these films as much as I have enjoyed making them.

Campfire Stories - Cape York, Ussher Point Recovery | 4xAdventures #adventure #4wd #touring

All of us 4WDers and overlanders have a lifetime's worth of stories to tell. This is what Campfire Stories is all about. This story takes place in mid-2023 when my partner, and a friend of ours went on an adventure to the very northernmost tip of Australia, Cape York, and the recovery operation that followed when we got hopelessly bogged on a disused, remote, soft, sandy track with a 45° inclin...

What size lights are ran up front on the bull bar? can’t decide between 7 or 9inch
14:50 THANKS .. I bought a brand new Nissan Warrior from my hard earned money and so possessive about it that I didnt go to adventures.. Now I will.. just needed that from u.. Thanks..
I’m glad you found some inspiration from my video! My FJ is my pride and joy, but at some point, you need to accept that a few battle scars are simply a part of 4WDing. 🙂👍
I haven't had an arial hooked to a TV since prob 2010, and haven't missed it in that time ether
Absolutely better than tv
TV is crap... RUclips is life.
Better by a country mile
TV doesn't even come close to this. More, more, more please. 👍
I spend far more time watching RUclips than I do watching TV these days.
Like I commented after the last video Artie, much better than what passes for entertainment on TV thesedays. Haven't changed my mind, it's no contest.
Thankyou kindly!! 🙏🙂
Absolutely better than whats on tv. Theres to much product advertising and promoting on tv which i kind of get, i mean they have to pay for things somehow but it just takes away from the actual content. Aside from that theres just too much 'fluff' for lack of a better word. Old school shows like Malcolm Douglas were great but they just dont exist on tv anymore.
🎉👍
Should have used your spare tyre to winch up the hill. You use it standing up with the winch rope going over it. It will help pull the front of you vehicle upwards.
Yes, we realised afterwards that that may have helped. 🙂👍
As you say, people stuff up these pristine places. Thanks for sharing your travels.
My pleasure! Thankyou for watching!🙂👍
What a lovely video. I was sad to cancel my trip to Mungo due to heavy rains but watching your video has inspired me to try again next holidays. Heard the beautiful old shearing shed burnt down. What a sad loss to the park.
Thankyou kindly! Oh no. That saddens me to hear the shearing shed burnt down. What a loss. 😢
Yeah. It's windy this time of year on that east coast. I have heard alot of people turn around and camp somewhere without the wind.
Great story Artie and I'm sure some good experience was gained and glad you overcame the challenge. Don't be afraid to drop your pressures even more in a situation like that. The difference between 14 psi to 10 psi can be huge and then the difference between 10 psi to 6 psi also huge , in this situation going as low as that may have just done the trick
Thanks very much! Yes, you’re right. We were afraid of the tyre coming off if we went too low, but managed to get up nonetheless. 🙂👍
Thanks for the story bud!! Sounds like an adventure and good for the experience!! Well done. Thanks for sharring!!
...im in a national park.. i cannot have a campfire. What the fark is going on seriously
'Strayia Mate!!!
I reckon you'll stop at the Daily Waters Pub before Darwin
Close! We called ahead & they were booked out. Stopped at Dunmarra Roadhouse. Nice camping. 🙂👍
Darwin, Northern Territory 💁🏻♂️
Half correct, passing through Darwin 🙂👍
@@4xAdventuresyou’re not shipping, are you?
Hi yours is auto or manual?
Auto
Big news has gotta be a new car.
🤔
100K!! Congratulations. Both of you enjoy your trip and be safe
Thanks very much!! 🙂👍
Congrats on breaking 100k subs, well done! Looking forward to the new trip. Is that the Cruiser Company rack on your spare wheel? Interested how it goes extra weight and all and what you plan on using it for. Good luck !
Thanks very much!! No, it’s from Thorburns. It’s lighter than I thought.
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers. I just hope you don't get too big it has happened to alot my favourite RUclipsrs. The accessory companies start throwing that much gear at them the videos start to become just a long commercial. Tyler Thompson is the perfect example now that he has become quite popular he has gone from touring to you must have a live axle vehicle with a 4 inch lift and 35's and every accessory that those companies can supply. Just my thoughts anyway 👌👍 5:51
Thankyou. Point taken. I’d like to remain independent so I can offer unbiased advice and reviews. That said, RUclips ads don’t even come close to buying a tank of petrol per month, and so I am hoping to get enough Patreon supporters so I don’t need to look for partners etc. 🙂👍
Been watching your videos from the start and they are well presented. Keep up the good work. 😊
Thankyou kindly! 🙂👍
Hey Artie, I'm only surprised that you don't have more subs to be honest. Your videos are professional, informative and interesting, the sort of viewing that we used to look forward to with a weekly T.V. show for instance, where binge watching wasn't an option and anticipation was an event to be enjoyed. Then there's the fact that it is great viewing generally with no underlying "influence" shoved down your throat, no controversy, no politics just entertainment. Keep it up man, looking forward to this next adventure greatly.
Thankyou so very much! It makes me so happy to know people enjoy my videos! All the best! 🙂👍
I can’t believe you have 100k followers and the RUclips algorithm has never served up one of your videos to me before! I’ve binge watched a stack tonight so catching up slowly. Looking forward to following your trip!
Thankyou so much for watching!! All the best! 🙂👍
Congratulations on the 100k love your work 👏
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
Transverse chassis vibration seems to be a feature of the modern independent front suspension vehicles at speed on rough roads (physics and suspension geometry) - you dont feel it in the cab due to well engineered vibration isolation. - the chassis (bullbar direct mounted to chassis) feel the full vibrations. - these lateral vibrations are likely a major contributor to things coming loose on the bullbar - So, step up hte mounting security, short bolts and lock washers likely will not cut the custard. - longer bolts will help. (use a decent spacer tube to allow for the longer bolt) the longerthe bolt, the more spring streatch it has, and this is good. (think of the bolt as a spring. A fastner nut will only come loose if it is momemtarly in fresh air due to vibration. A long spring ( bolt) can better clamp the assembly and prevent the freshair movements that undo the nuts. - theu use of "structural" / hardened steel washers can help too as opposed to normal mild steel "bunnings" washers The lazymans way is to use locktight on the fastners or use nylock nuts (not to be resued many times as the friction locking decreases a bit with use) just some thoughts on not having things fall off in your travels
Thankyou so much - that actually makes sense when you think about it. I’m on the road right now, day 1 of trip and that bracket broke today, so I will be finding a new one in the next day or two and will try using longer bolts as per your suggestion! 🙂👍
It certainly doesn’t surprise me that you have that many followers. Keep on doing what you do! Can’t wait for the trip videos.
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
New Prado inbound?!?
Good guess, but incorrect 😉👍
Way to go Arty, well done, have a great trip👍👍👍
Thanks very much!! 🙂👍
Congrats on the 100K subs.... well deserved. Onwards and upwards.
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
There's the 100k. Nice one, big milestone.
Thanks very much! 🙂👍
Congrats on a very well deserved 100k!
Thanks very much!! 🙂👍
Enjoy your trip!
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
This is so interesting 😊
Glad you like it! Thankyou for watching! 🙂👍
Another great story mate. Thanks for the opportunity to visit with you
Glad you enjoyed it!! 🙂👍
How much do you charge to install a hot water system like that in my FJ? 😂 Great setup all around, wishing you safe travels!
As a plumber we use a product called loxeel on threads. It would be great for your antenna
Great to see all your preparations for your trip, Attila. Having experienced a similar problem with my FJ with the antenna on the front bull bar, have you considered a rear mount antenna that attaches to the rear door doesn't have as many vibrations to work things loose. I don't think I'll place a link here for you. If you need to know more, just give me a p.m., and I'll send you the link. It's relatively inexpensive, and there's no cutting of wires. Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing your big trip.
Thanks very much Ed! I already have an antenna on the back door hinge. I’ve used a spring washer so hopefully it will hold! All the best! 🙂👍
Nice work and good luck to you both.
Thankyou kindly! 🙂👍
Yeah but they don’t get the water very hot
87 degrees Celsius is plenty hot in my opinion. Too hot to shower with without mixing with cold water. 🙂👍
@@4xAdventures your vehicle must run hot, never had a exchanger get above 30c on a engine unless it’s a massive exchanger that hold 3 liter or more of water to be heated at a time.
@@4xAdventures I have a Coleman hot water on demand I can get 8 showers out of a 1 lb bottle of gas with 160 degree temp if I want. It’s no bigger than a small tool box. Works fantastic
Artie - love your vids
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
Have a fantastic trip 👍
Thankyou kindly!! 🙂👍
Add an icemachine and you are set !
Now you’re talking!! 😂👍
Your next trip sounds exiting. Good luck. Question: Do you have the all-up-weight of the vehicle fully loaded, fuel, water etc and with the 2 of you in the car as well? Would be interesting to know as I have an FJ as well.
Coming to you from Thailand wow have we got some new subs, will be back in feb to do some touring catch you then
Awesome! Catch up with you then. 🙂👍
How many KM’s do you have on your FJ?
About 190,000
